Alexander Lesio Jr. was the love of my life and my greatest blessing. For many years Alex walked this world on his own path, never marrying and with only two nieces as family. But when God brought us together, our lives changed forever. In an instant, he not only gained a wife who loved him deeply, but also three daughters and a granddaughter on the way. Our family became his family, and he embraced every moment of it with a full and grateful heart.

Alex proudly served his country in the United States Army with the 1097th River Rats in Vietnam. His service and sacrifice were a source of quiet strength and pride throughout his life. After returning home, he continued serving his fellow veterans and community. In Florida, he became Commander of the VFW in Pine Island, dedicating his time and leadership to those who had worn the uniform. When we later moved to Georgia, Alex remained committed to honoring veterans through his involvement with the American Legion in Jasper.

But beyond the uniform and titles, Alex was a man who truly loved life. Some of my favorite memories are the simple ones we shared together. We loved riding his motorcycle together with the wind our faces, spending peaceful days boating on the water, and enjoying the beach on Sanibel Island. Alex never needed fancy things to be happy — a hotdog, a soda, the sunshine, and time with the people he loved were enough to bring him joy.

He had a big heart, a strong spirit, and a quiet kindness that touched everyone who knew him. Alex stepped into our family with love, loyalty, and a sense of humor that made life brighter.

To me, he will always be my hero — not only for his service to our country, but for the love he gave so freely to the family he gained and the life we built together.

Alex, you are forever loved, forever remembered, and forever my hero.
